Business & Marketing Material
Your business and marketing material consists of anything from a receipt to a full colour brochure, your business card or your website.
In this section I want to concentrate on traditional printed marketing materials (tell me about websites), which include but are not limited to:
- Business cards
- Compliments Slips
- Flyers & posters
- NCR pads
- Delivery notes
- Vehicle graphics
As a designer one of the things that keep me awake at night is the consistency of how a brand is presented, I'll probably cover this in more detail in the content I write for my 'branding pages', but put simply it's making sure your brand, (so that's your logo, it's colour, font etc.) looks the same on your business cards, your invoices your vehicles and anywhere else it might appear.
As a junior designer everyone has experienced someone thrusting a printed logo or advert in front of you, and saying just do it like that! usually followed by it needs to ready in half an hour. So you quickly look through your available artwork and fonts and try and reproduce the artwork that was probably cobbled together with clip art from some unknown source.
Everytime you advertise or get your business cards printed somewhere different you run the risk of your brand being altered slightly until you take control and have a definitive logo designed for you, with detailed instructions on how it is to be used.
I have produced numerous logo's for my clients, including original designs and re-drawing existing logo's either accurately or with a little bit of artistic input.
Once the logo has been drawn properly and saved in file formats that can be reproduced accurately the client can happily distribute their brand to all and sundry to appear on adverts, banners vehicles and clothing.

As a designer producing and printing, business and marketing material, the growth of the internet has been a huge benefit to me. I simply create the artwork, place an order online and email the artwork to the printer. The printer will normally price the job based on your timescale with urgent jobs costing more and jobs with a flexible timescale benefitting from good discounts.
